The User Interface Committee of the Group on Earth Observation held its 14th meeting at ECMWF on 2-4 March 2010.

One of the primary purposes of the 14th meeting of the User Interface Committee (UIC) was to determine next steps for the UIC involvement in the approach to the Ministerial meeting of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) in Beijing in November 2010.

GEO is coordinating efforts to build a Global Earth Observation System of Systems. GEO is a voluntary partnership of governments and international organizations. It provides a framework within which these partners can develop new projects and coordinate their strategies and investments.

ECMWF has been a Participating Organization in GEO since the initiative was started in 2003. The Centre supports the implementation of several tasks of the GEO 2009-2011 Work Plan in the societal benefit areas Weather, Climate, Health, Energy, and Water, mainly through contributions based on reanalysis data, through its long-standing expertise in numerical weather prediction and in Observing System Experiments (OSEs), and through its TIGGE activities.
