ECMWF is part of a consortium exploring new ways of exploiting high-resolution satellite data to monitor atmospheric ozone with unprecedented accuracy.

A new seasonal outlook developed by ECMWF that extends the forecast horizon for river levels from two weeks to two months is being tested in the Copernicus European Flood Awareness System (EFAS).

The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), which is operated by ECMWF on behalf of the EU, has enhanced its products and its user interface since it became fully operational last summer.

Professor Florian Pappenberger has been appointed Director of Forecasts at ECMWF. He took up the position on 1 July after ECMWF’s Council approved the appointment.
